About Teaching Beginners or Young Children Piano
Teaching young children and beginning players of all ages is a lot of fun for Jenny, and she’s very proud of her students and how much they’re able to accomplish in a short time. Since 2010, she has held many concerts for her young students in Esplanade concert venues.
Because teaching beginner students is a very different process from teaching advanced students, Jenny takes a different approach and uses different methods to teach them most effectively. During basic piano lessons in Singapore, she uses musical games and activities that make the lessons fun and interesting and keep the students motivated. This is especially important because if the students are less motivated, they may not practise as diligently at home. With each student, Jenny patiently works with them on the difficult concepts and skills such as note reading, so that each student has the foundation to become an exceptional piano player.
For students with no prior piano experience, Jenny uses Piano Lessons Made Easy by Lina Ng. This teaching program slowly introduces the basic piano skills, and students can generally reach Grade 1 proficiency within eight months.
