Qualifications
Grade 8 (Pursuing Diploma)
Teaching Area
East
Teacher Yeo is currently studying diploma under the London College in Music program and is very patient in teaching adults who desire to learn how to play the piano be it for leisure or exam.
She believes that all people can learn how to play the piano – even for those who THINK that they have no talent for it. It is never too late to start now.
“Let age not stop you…Give Yourself A Chance Now…Better LATE than NEVER…”
She will use the appropriate materials for adult learning to teach the student on how to read notes and do well in hands coordination. She will make sure that the student understands everything and guide them on how to play the tune until it goes very smoothly, so that they will know how to practise on their own at home.
Piano teacher Ms Lee Yuan
I am Samantha Lee. I am currently an undergraduate in NTU, majoring in Chemistry and Biochemistry with the minor in music. I have a great passion in music and participated many performing arts CCA during my secondary school, junior college years. I was a student conductor in my secondary school choir and the Head of the Musical Committee of my junior college Symphonic Band. I love to try out different types of instruments. I learnt to play the flute, double bass, drum and guitar. Currently, I am a piano accompaniment for a student taking a grade 5 violin examination in the upcoming August 2017. I sometimes post youtube videos of the piano accompaniment for the flute exams when I am free.
I am currently planning to take my DipABRSM and ATCL in 2 years’ time. I offer home academic tuitions and music classes during my free time.

My teaching method:
I allow my students to try out other musical pieces besides playing their exam pieces. I enjoy teaching students whose parents will their children some time to explore and discover the meaning of music before starting to take their piano exams. I would not allow the students to take the exams if they are not ready. Apart from that, I focus on the intonation and usage of solfege. I strongly believe that solfege not only help the students to score well in aural session, but also allow them to play by ear when they move on to higher grades. I encourage students to use solfeges during their sightsinging during their aural test. Lastly, in order to cater the students’ need for their examinations, I will choose either ABRSM, Trinity or ANZCA examinations

Teaching Methods
My teaching approach focuses on cultivating the ear to music, to be able to discern how best you want your music to sound like. From there, we will work on the touch and the technicality. This has shown great results in exams, and most importantly, creating the music you want.
For beginners, the focus is on the experience and building up foundation. It is important for teachers to be able to cultivate a passion in the student since the beginning phase so that students will willingly want to pursue and practice piano in the long run
